Joseph Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Union, played a crucial role in World War II. As General Secretary of the Communist Party, he led the USSR in its fight against Nazi Germany. After initially signing a non-aggression pact with Hitler, Stalin joined the Allies following Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941. Under his leadership, the Red Army played a pivotal role in key battles such as Stalingrad and the eventual capture of Berlin. Stalin's strategic decisions and the Soviet Union's vast resources were instrumental in the defeat of the Axis powers on the Eastern Front.
