Twenty-one Curves at Annan, China

"U.S. Convoy which operates between Chen-Yi and Kweiyang, China, is ascending the famous twenty-one curves at Annan, China." Pfc. John F. Albert, March 26, 1945. Click here to print.

The famous twenty-one curves at Annan, China, are a challenging and historically significant section of the Burma Road, which was a vital supply route during World War II. This winding stretch of road, with its sharp and steep turns, posed a formidable obstacle for the transportation of military supplies and personnel. The curves exemplify the logistical difficulties faced by the Allies in maintaining a supply line to Chinese forces resisting Japanese occupation. The strategic importance and engineering challenges of the twenty-one curves highlight the ingenuity and perseverance required to support war efforts in difficult terrain.
