THE INTERIOR OF THE WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS MOSQUE: Into the splendor of Justinian's church the Janissaries poured, seeking for treasure; and there, beneath the costly mosaic of the cross, the Christian women were distributed among the mercenary soldiers of the Turk.
