According to the Old Testament, the
Egyptian pharaoh sent out a decree ordering the deaths of any
Hebrew infants born. Baby Moses was placed in a basket
amidst the marshes of the Nile River, where he was found by the
pharaoh's daughter. It was thus that he was raised in the
Egyptian fashion at the pharaoh's court. The story of
Moses' rescue from the Nile River is similar to a story that was
told in ancient times of King Sargon of Akkad, founder of the
Akkadian dynasty in Mesopotamia during the 23rd century B.C.E. |
