This pen-and-ink drawing illustrates Moses
viewing the Promised Land of Canaan (Palestine) from atop Mount
Nebo. After passing the leadership of the Hebrews to
Joshua, it is said that Moses climbed Mount Nebo at God's
command. There he died, and was buried in a valley of the
land of Moab. The Israelites spent thirty days mourning
