According to the Old Testament, the first
task of the ancient Hebrews, led by Joshua (the successor of
Moses) in entering Canaan was capturing the city of Jericho.
According to historians and archaeologists, Jericho is famous as
the world's oldest occupied city, having first been settled
approximately 9,000 years ago. With the help of "Rahab the
harlot," the Israelites learned about the inner workings of the
city. Miraculously, God caused the city's walls to
crumble, then come tumbling down, making it easy for the
Israelites to enter. The only family spared from the
Hebrews' swords was that of Rahab. Click
