Pictured are four gods of ancient Egypt: Set, the Egyptian god of darkness; Anubis, a darkness god; Typhon, the wife of Anubis, also known as the Terrible One; and Bes, the cheerful god.
Typhon and Set are virtually synonymous, Typhon being the Greek name and version of the same concept (and noted as such by the ancient Greek historian Herodotus).
Anubis served as the god of embalming, protector of the dead and tombs.
Bes was originally seen as the protector of families, and later grew to represent goodness.
