MAJOR-GENERAL JOSEPH WHEELER (Cuba, Spanish-American War, 1898) Joseph Wheeler was born in Augusta, Georgia, in 1836. He passed away in Brooklyn, New York, in 1906. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Wheeler fought as a Confederate during the U.S. Civil War.
