Joseph Stalin (born Joseph Jughashvili in the Caucasus nation of Georgia), leader of the Soviet Union from 1922 (the time of Lenin's illness) until his own death in 1953. Stalin was notorious for his Five-Year Plans, forced famine which caused the deaths of millions, Gulag prison camps, and a regime that was overall oppressive in nature. |
